I don’t watch House, but from what I’ve seen Dr. House does have some angry swagger.

Okay, I’ve added Michael Weston, because he’s chock full of swagger. I’ve never seen Human Target, and Michael Scott? Would we call that swagger? Last time I checked, Billy Coffey was not a tv character, although plans for an action figure are in the works…

      • Jason February 23, 2011 at 10:35 am #

Christopher Chance from Human Target has it. Trust me.

Okay, yeah. I’ve seen that show. It’s hard for me to see him in that role because I keep seeing him as that snooty lawyer on Boston Legal.

  4. Amy Nabors February 23, 2011 at 8:13 am #

Seely Boothe & Peter Bishop. Yes thank you. LL Cool J also has it.

LL Cool J? Oh, yes. Definite swagger.

I think I’ve seen that show once. I’ll have to check it out again.

Shemar Moore from Criminal Minds – ‘Special Agent Derek Morgan’ . ‘Phwoar’, is the technical term for that in the UK. see also: swagger.

Shemar Moore? Oh, dang. Have you ever seen Diary of a Mad, Black Woman? Yesh…swagger.

    • katdish February 23, 2011 at 8:52 am #

Now, see–I like Neal Caffrey, but he’s a little too clean cut to meet my definition of swagger. Although, I do see your point. I would agree that Callen has swagger.

      • Peter P February 23, 2011 at 12:39 pm #

Neal Caffrey’s more clean cut than shaun and gus?

I’ve seen it once. I’ll have to watch it again to see if he fits the katdish swagger definition…

  9. A Simple Country Girl February 23, 2011 at 9:59 am #

Charles Ingalls. Yeah, I am old school. What’s wrong with a hardworking, Christian man in the swagger round-up?

For me there are two types of swaggering men. One swaggers cause he’s been kicked in the hind-quarters one too many times (most likely due to pompousness, arrogance, and the like. The other type swaggers cause he spent the day in a saddle. Hence my next selection.

John Wayne. Yes, yes, I have TV evidence. ( http://www.imdb.com/name/nm0000078/filmoseries )

(ps, I don’t even know any of those characters listed in your post, except for mister Jack. He existed before I cut the TV umbilical line.)

What exactly is the Katdish def. of swagger, cause the dictionary definitions don’t paint a pretty picture. ;-)

Swagger is sort of hard to define. A certain air of confidence and humility at the same time. I would definitely say Charles Ingalls had swagger.

  10. Jason February 23, 2011 at 10:36 am #

OK…as a follow up to my comment above, you need to check out Human Target. Christopher Chance and Guerrero both have it.

I was gonna say Shemar Moore too. He’s yummy swagger with a spoon!

And Mike Rowe has swagger. His voice even has it on Deadliest Catch.

    • katdish February 23, 2011 at 10:57 am #

Oh, Mike Rowe has swagger in spades. But I’m talking TV characters here.

  12. Ed Blonski February 23, 2011 at 11:01 am #

Maybe beyond the scope of what the list given, but…

    John Wayne.

    Cary Grant.

    Mark Harmon.

  13. Sandra Heska King February 23, 2011 at 11:04 am #

No. I think men can recognize swagger. With the possible exception of Tony.

  17. Tony Alicea February 23, 2011 at 12:53 pm #

If dorky swagger counts, I nominate Liz Lemon from 30 Rock. Mostly because I have a super duper crush on Tina Fey. I love confident, dorky women.

Would you die if you knew that I don’t know about even one of those swaggerers? Never seen them swagger. Culturally illiterate. I do like to see swaggerers from the back side, though. :) :) :) The shoulders, of course.

I can’t believe I just spent five minutes of my life reading these comments. That’s five minutes I KNOW I will never get back again.

Just so you know, Jake–If I did a blogger swagger post, you would definitely be my choice for angry swagger.

  24. Cam February 24, 2011 at 10:25 am #

I remember us tweeting about Timothy Olyphant and swagger the other day. I absolutely agree on Shemar Moore…holy goodness gracious is he sexy.

And yes it’s not easily definable – but you definitely know it when you see it!!

  25. Tamara Out Loud February 24, 2011 at 10:30 am #

Is it just a coincidence, or is “easy on the eyes” a requirement for swagger?

Either way, I want to add Jim from The Office. I am not ashamed of my dorky little crush. Not ashamed at all.
