Okay. Me first. I live just west of Houston, Texas with my husband, two kids, a cat named Rudy and a dog named Buddy Love. My favorite movie is The Princess Bride. My favorite book? Too hard to choose a favorite. This is my blog. Welcome!

  2. Marni May 11, 2010 at 8:46 am #

I live south of Dallas, TX with my husband, 2 daughters (one is in college and doesn’t live here anymore. YAY!!!! Oops, I meant…gosh we sure do miss her). I have 2 dumb dogs named Howie and Roscoe and two uptight cats named Sushi and Johnny Cash (don’t ask). My favorite movie is Gone With the Wind and the Wayne’s World movies (I’m intellectual, yet shallow). My blog URL is misspelled because I meant for it to be “hereigns” but didn’t have enough caffiene that day, so it’s now “herigns”. Yeah.

  3. jasonS May 11, 2010 at 1:55 pm #

Well, technically you know me, but I’ll tell you a little about myself anyway…

I live in Juneau, AK where I am a husband, father, pastor, musician, and way more other hats than my bald head could wear at once. I love life and conversations on faith and Jesus as well as 12 yr-old humor and TWSS jokes (I’m unique and God loves me!).

New site is looking good, Kat!

  4. Lainie Gallagher May 11, 2010 at 8:15 pm #

I love that this was not about you, yet you have the first comment all about you…

ME! I live in Texas with my husband and a kitty cat. My favorite movie is The Little Mermaid. My favorite book is THE BIBLE. (Gosh, Katdish. You’re so unspiritual.)

    • katdish May 13, 2010 at 9:17 am #

      Wait…

I thought you favorite book was The Giving Tree.

      • Lainie Gallagher May 13, 2010 at 4:45 pm #

Second favorite. The Enabling Tree is just not quite as compelling as the story of redemption. Again… so unspiritual! 😉

        • Jane Wells July 27, 2010 at 2:01 pm #

“The Enabling Tree” You just made me snort.

  5. Jake May 11, 2010 at 8:38 pm #

I’m Jake. I’m not sarcastic like you, I’m just grumpy. Seminary student, wannabe writer, too busy for my own good and living in Boise, Idaho.

Kathy, I love the new site! It fits you!

  6. Jeff May 12, 2010 at 7:56 am #

I am happily married to the lovely lady in my avatar. Her name is Sarah. We have an awesome son, Jakob. We live in America’s high five, Michigan, and we love it here. Our dog is named Jaysian and looks like Master Splinter, and we have one of the biggest cats you’d ever see named Simon. I felt obligated to mention pets, because you started it.

I’m a youth and children’s pastor. It’s a wonderful life, except when it’s not, but I love it always.

  7. Duane Scott May 12, 2010 at 2:03 pm #

What can I say that you don’t already know?

I have shot someone in the shin with a blow gun. (Accident)

I will never learn how to spell “familiar” correctly.

I am still wondering if I’ll ever convince you to read “The Shack.”

I overdose frequently on orange tic tacs.

I’m a blogger/writer that is waiting for his life to begin.

  8. Heather Sunseri May 12, 2010 at 4:25 pm #

I live with Mike, my best friend/amazing husband, daughter, son, Golden Retriever, and a bunch of other animlas (cat, fish, etc.). I’m a CPA turned writer. I love to talk about Jesus and what inspires people.

  9. Deb Holmes May 12, 2010 at 10:16 pm #

I am a passionate and inspired 30-something… and I have a wonderful life… I live with my fabulous husband who is my best friend… I have 2 awesome dogs that make me laugh all the time at their ridiculous antics… I am a follower of Jesus… a blogger… a people lover… and generally a happy person.

Love the new look site… very fancy 😉

  11. Sharkbait May 13, 2010 at 4:28 am #

I am a somewhere kind of guy:

    I live somewhere in Africa
I am somewhere in my 30’s
Somewhere along the line I decided to be a FISH.
I am single, but I know she’s out there somewhere.

As you can tell I am pretty vague about myself, and about that other thing.

  12. Janet Oberholtzer May 13, 2010 at 4:32 am #

Hi … I live in SE Pennsylvania. I have a J-family … hubs Jerry, sons Joshua, Joseph and Jonathan. 2 in college, 1 in highschool. I have no pets and prefer to keep it that way – sorry, I’m not mean, I just don’t care for animals. I love being outdoors – running/biking/kayaking/reading/napping/etc
My favorite book changes from time to time, right now it is “A Million Miles in a Thousand Years” by Donald Miller.

    • katdish May 13, 2010 at 8:09 am #

What is it with the letter J? I have some friends that are Jeremy, Julie, Jenna and Jayden. But it seems to be only the letter J that inspires that sort of solidarity.

  13. HisFireFly May 13, 2010 at 4:50 am #

I am a sold out disciple of Jesus Christ learning more each day what it means to abide in Him. I desire to walk in radical obedience to His voice and pray that my life brings glory to The Father, The Son and The Holy Spirit.

Me and my beloved husband Rick live in rural Manitoba with our dog Faith and often various barn cats on 20 beautiful acres the Lord has provided for us.

Stop by for a visit at Flickers of a Faithful FireFly http://hisfirefly.blogspot.com my personal blog about Jesus, love, prayer, and life in rural Canada. You can also find me blogging about marriage at http://www.exemplifyonline.com

  14. ~Brenda May 13, 2010 at 8:17 am #

Well I AM sarcastic like you, but haven’t learned to cut loose as much as you do. It’s that darn guilty feeling I always get after cutting loose.

    I digress.

My name is Brenda. I love to blog. I am writing a book. I love really girly books like Anne of Green Gables and Janette Oke books. I also love photography, but am fairly new at it – obviously.

I am also a wife to Shaun (on our 20th year), and I have three children. My oldest just got married. I’m 37. I’ll let you do the math, and figure out the answers to all of the questions that little fact might bring to your mind.

    The end.

    ~Brenda

  15. BunBunRabbit May 13, 2010 at 8:31 am #

Hello. My name is BunBun. I live in Helen’s yard, and eat from the gardens of her neighbors. Helen hasn’t kept a garden, but I hear rumor that that is going to change this year, so I might not have so far to go to eat anymore.

  16. Sarah Salter May 13, 2010 at 8:36 am #

I’m Sarah. I’m from the Crystal Coast of NC, but God made me move inland for a few years so that now I’m in the dusty armpit of NC (better known as the sandhills). I’m single and childless, except for a 3-year-old pitbull/boxer mix named Sadie who rules my house and dominates the foot of my bed. I love movies with Southern woman themes (Steel Magnolias, Fried Green Tomatoes, Driving Miss Daisy) and sports themes (Radio, Facing The Giants). In a nutshell, I’m a daughter, sister, friend, writer, talker, hugger, missionary, who is in full-time ministry.

  17. Heather of the EO May 13, 2010 at 8:38 am #

    Love the new digs!

And I love this amazing woman on the web named katdish.
    Her tweets are funny.
    She’s kind.
I like her eyes and hair.
    She’s inspiring.

    But enough about me…

    • katdish May 13, 2010 at 9:14 am #

Oh, come on Heather! I want to hear about you!

  18. ~Brenda May 13, 2010 at 9:21 am #

I keep getting emails saying there are responses to my comment. But I see no responses. ??

    ~Brenda

    • katdish May 13, 2010 at 9:47 am #

Ugh! Sorry Brenda! Still trying to work out the kinks!

    • PeterP May 13, 2010 at 10:04 am #

I THINK I just fixed that for you.

      Possibly.

      • ~Brenda May 13, 2010 at 10:29 am #

Well I got your reply to this comment! And Peter’s too!

  19. Dusty Rayburn May 13, 2010 at 9:26 am #

Well since you are finally following me on twitter, I guess I will comment! 🙂

I currently live in Locust Fork, AL. It’s about as big as it sounds.

I grew up in Mexico as a missionaries kid. I have majors in Spanish and Religion and minors in Computer Engineering, Science, Mathematics, and English… In other words I’m a nerd who went to college way too long…

I am a lay minister after realizing that vocational ministry was not what God had in store for me.

This past January I celebrated 5 years of being married to my best friend and in September my precious daughter will turn 4.

But all in all, the thing that best describes me is:

    I am nothing without God.

  20. PeterP May 13, 2010 at 10:08 am #

    Hi, I’m Peter.

I recently discovered that I am, in fact, @Katdish’s slave.

If you want to know any more about me, ask her. She’s in charge of everything.

    • ~Brenda May 13, 2010 at 10:29 am #

LOL, Peter. Wanna be my slave too. I’ll treat ya’ good.

      • Peter P May 13, 2010 at 12:37 pm #

You’ll have to fight with Katdish on that one 🙂

  21. Annie K May 13, 2010 at 2:20 pm #

I’m Annie. I live with my husband, son, and the BozDog smack dab in the middle of Oregon surrounded by beautiful mountains, lakes, forests and rivers. If God was going to live anywhere it would be here (and he’d have a vacation home in Tulum, MX like I will someday). The only bummer about my state is it’s run by Democrats but we’re hoping to fix that in the next election.

I am part of an extremely dysfunctional blended family but it keeps me on my toes (or is that on my knees in prayer?), so it’s all good. I am just a small-town girl at heart and spend all of me free time doing what I love which is traipsing around the woods with my camera and Boz.

Dig the new site Kat but I don’t see a picture of Boz. Not that my dog should be on your site, but he is dang cute, and your favorite…

  22. Stephen May 13, 2010 at 10:15 pm #

I’m Steve. Or Stephen. It depends on my meds.

I’m not married, except to my memories. Or my dreams. It depends on my meds.

I have two sons. One’s married. The other will be as soon as he gets his driver’s license. You might think I’m kidding about that. I’m not. Or maybe I am. (Meds.)

I’m a freelance editor. I’ve been doing that for nearly a quarter of a century, though for a few of those years I worked in a Real Publishing House in a Real Cubicle where I had conversations with Real Co-workers. Now the only people I talk to are creditors, my parole officer*, and Starbucks baristas. I edit novels, mostly for Christian publishing houses. And no, I’m not going to add another “or…” line here and follow that up with a mention of meds. I’m fickle that way.

Katdish says I’m Eeyore. But I’m not because I’ve never lost my tail. Also because I understand irony.

By the way, I’m not really on any meds (at this time). Except for God’s Prozac, bacon.

*I lied. I don’t talk to my parole officer.

  23. Amy K. Sorrells May 14, 2010 at 3:57 am #

I’m the Teacher’s Pet, a guinea pig or a turtle, I’m not sure which. Anyway, I love to write. Love my garden. Love my family. Love my God. Oh, and I love katdish!!!! You can find the complete and narcassistic version of “all about me” on my blog. They say I have to put it all out there to build a little thing called “platform” so I can get my books published like Billy Coffey.

    • katdish May 14, 2010 at 1:06 pm #

Oh, Amy…you’re the guinea pig. Billy’s the turtle.

  24. tsholo May 14, 2010 at 5:58 am #

my name is Tsholofelo Oregolele Mpuru…my friends call me “tree” – something about being rooted in Christ and producing fruit and other Christian-y things.

i used to have a goldfish, but he died. i currently don’t have any pets.

i love music and am always either singing, listening to it (especially david crowder band), or writing it.

    i also have a blog.

i live in south africa, am 26 yrs old and my favorite movie is the lion king.

i am passionately loved by the same guy who created the entire universe and knows each star by name…this makes me happy!

  25. Melissa Brotherton May 14, 2010 at 7:58 am #

First of all…that was freaky to watch your picture morph into me when I filled in all of my info…I’m just sayin’…

I just turned 30 so I think I’m an adult now. I was raised in the NW but live in So Cal, so life is a lot sunnier now, but very dry. I married my high school sweetheart when I was 20 and we are weeks away from having our 4th child. I love being a SAHM, and hate it! I want to get my MA, go to culinary school and who knows what else. I have a tendency to be narcissistic and entitled but my children are curing me of that. My husband and I hope to someday make it into full-time ministry, but for now we’re just trying to figure it all out.

    Love the new sight!! 🙂

  26. Jamie May 14, 2010 at 9:07 am #

Wow. That gravatar thing was cool. You are obviously way cooler than me. I’m a mom, wife and writer living in Georgia. I run and this time of year — garden. I worry too much about my weight and lack of money. Also worry way too much about my body falling everywhere it wasn’t even 5 years ago. No that last comment justifies lots of worry about nothing I can do a thing about. That’s it.

  27. Bina May 15, 2010 at 9:17 am #

I am a 30-sumptin wife of my Superman, mom to my five lil ducklings and author of a blog still learning to breathe on its own. I am a lover of God, follower of Jesus and just as broken as the next person. I love to laugh, enjoy being the focus of heckling and always am a sucker for a great chick flick. But most importantly…Katdish cracks me up.

  28. susie @newdaynewlesson May 17, 2010 at 6:58 am #

I’m Susie. I lived half my life in NY, and the other since then in Israel.

I have 5 kids. I work part time as an ER nurse.

I started blogging about 3+ months ago about a lesson I learn each day from life. I also started a kindness club almost 6 weeks ago with a weekly kindness prompt (on tuesdays).

I love helping people and trying to make a difference in this world we live in.

Just found your site today through Bill’s.

    Thanks.

    • katdish May 17, 2010 at 7:08 am #

It’s nice to “meet” you Susie. Thanks for stopping by!

  29. Sandra Heska King May 26, 2010 at 9:27 am #

I’m Sandra. AKA Sandy. AKA Snady–a typo that stuck.

I live in Michigan. I met my husband in an OB/GYN office.

    I’m a gramma.

    I love chocolate.

    I can scream really loud.

    I try to write.

    No, I AM a writer.

    There, I said it again.

  30. Barbara Brink May 30, 2010 at 11:44 pm #

I’m Barbara. Since I didn’t see any loyal followers from Minnesota I felt obligated to give our state a showing.
I love sarcasm. Ever since Moonlighting with Bruce Willis and Cybil Shepherd, sarcasm has been king. I don’t see the point of blogs with happy thoughts, flowers or hearts. That’s why I enjoy yours.
I have a husband, kids, and dogs too, but I won’t mention them cause you said this was about me.
I’m a writer without an agent. I ride a mean Green Kawasaki Ninja. I love chocolate, chinese food, and being thin. I know–these things are not compatible.
Oh, and I just got back from Hawaii. It was wonderful. Wish I was still there. Now I know why there were so many people laying on the beach with all their belongings. Here in Minnesota we call them “homeless” and help them out. In Hawaii they’re just people on extended vacations who ran out of money.
    Nice website!

  31. Glynn July 19, 2010 at 5:26 pm #

I’ve probably spilled more of my guts than I should (so my wife tells me). But I think it’s ultra-cool when someone has a hero(ine) like Audrey Hepburn.

  32. Jane Wells July 27, 2010 at 2:17 pm #

I am a writer – and have been trying to get paid for it since leaving my last newspaper job 15 years ago. I love, meaning I feel the pleasure of God, when I write and teach a Bible study that makes someone’s eyes open wide and turns on a light behind them.
My identity is no longer my byline, but usually “Jacob’s Mom” or “Christopher’s Mom” and most of the time I’m OK with that.
I have just self-published a YA Bible study that has something to do with books about vampires (please don’t hate me!)
I live with my husband, two sons, two Golden Retrievers and two cats at the very bottom right corner of Michigan but grew up in the very top left corner of the Lower Peninsula where the air, water and beaches are often better than I remember.
Becoming a part of this crazy and committed community makes me happy.

  33. Leslie Gupton August 14, 2010 at 10:47 am #

I was wandering aimlessly about the internet, looking for spiritual guidance and refreshing. I stumbled upon your site and laughed and cried in how awesome God is and how he works. I was attempting to run away from home to find a quiet place to release all the pent up feelings and writings in my heart. Only to be directed to your site and your heart! And God showed me that I can release the words and feelings right were I am (since He is sovereign and placed me here in this time and place for His purpose! 🙁 🙂
I find myself stuck in a place I don’t want to be. I have raised 3 children and lost one to death. The youngest is attempting to be free (18 years old) and I am fighting it tooth and nail! The oldest two have make bad choices (the oldest is now maturing and has given me the MOST wonderful grand baby in the WHOLE world..if you think I’m bragging you just have to meet him!). The next to oldest lives on the street (by her choice) and travels singing and playing the guitar on street corners. The youngest is now attempting to leave the fold and is not making the best choices. I am in a constant mode of panic and running to scripture. II Tim 1:7 is my mantra.

I need a place to vent and write. Could this be the place?

    • katdish August 14, 2010 at 10:54 am #

Hi Leslie. I’m glad you found my little corner of the interwebs. If you look back through some comments and posts, you will find that not only is venting allowed here, it is encouraged. “My grace is sufficient for you, for my power is made perfect in weakness.” – 2 Cor 12:9

  34. Robin Arnold September 24, 2010 at 6:49 am #

Picture me a roundish person, with a Wisconsin accent, but with heavy Texas influences, living in northern Virginia, over a mountain and across the valley from you know who and whatshisname, also the very poetical and prolific one, as well as a few others. It’s like the air is filled with greatness here or something.

Boomer is my husband’s cat. I clean up urp a lot despite the rule against that sort of behavior. Kate is our science editor daughter married to John who is “on assignment” in UK so that’s where they live. We like words in our family. A lot. Someday I hope to have a bunch of them laid out in a thoughtful fashion.

  35. Deb. April 21, 2011 at 3:51 pm #

I wasn’t going to leave a comment, but because you said your favorite movie is The Princess Bride, I couldn’t help myself. For the past 23ish years, The Princess Bride has been my favorite too!!

I’m 30, single, and living in a village in Niger Republic (at the edge of the Sahara desert). I’m an Occupational Therapist setting up a Rehab Department in a Christian Hospital. A little out-of-the-box, but I love what I do and I’m learning to love where I’m doing it.

I became a follower of Jesus when I was 19, after growing up in an environment that, by example, taught that we are ‘saved’ by grace . . . but refined by our own works. It was only after running very far from Jesus that His grace began to meet in places I never expected it to show up. One can only fight so long.

My favorite outlet is photography, but I find blogging to be incredibly therapeutic.

  36. James Williams June 3, 2011 at 8:42 am #

Just discovered this page. I, too, count The Princess Bride in my Top Five movies, a list of essential movies which has 9 titles in it.
I live about 4 hours from you, in Arlington TX. I have 3 kids, ages 9,9, and 7. I have an uber-hot wife who’s a great mom. I do computer stuff. I love baseball. I’m a former soldier. I have a blog or two. My grandmother says I’m very good-looking.

I love Jesus, but don’t know Him as well as I should. I’m working on that.

I like to eat meat. I tolerate veggies.

I am on the right politically, but am often disappointed in the actions of my fellow conservatives, and cannot stand talk radio or pundits who feel that attacking those who disagree with them is the way to go.

I am an evangelical non-denominational Christian. I wish I wrote as well as Katdish. I like Facebook, but don’t care to post what I ate for lunch or other fluff. I have to go to the bathroom now.

    • katdish June 3, 2011 at 8:46 am #

Hey! Non-denom here, too! When and where did you serve? Are you a Ranger’s fan? I’m an Astros fan, which means I’m well versed in disappointment. Glad you found the page. It’s always fun to learn a little more about the folks who visit here.

  37. Gary Fultz November 21, 2011 at 11:08 am #

I am an “old school” jack of all trades – master of none and live in northern Minnesota. Outdoor adventures, risk taking and creativity drive me. Song writer, keyboard player, Speaker, and writer, Follower of Jesus, and husband of a great wife.
I have recognized that Truth is bigger than me and belongs to God. Commitment, vows, and my word get more than honerable mention as well. I suppose that does not make me culturally correct but works better in all aspects of life.
I do a lot of work and have several projects in the works but don’t have a job.
I am glad I found your website. keep it growing. Your husband is a genius?

  38. katdish November 21, 2011 at 3:26 pm #

Gary – My husband is a genius? Where’d you get that from? But since he may read this…Yes. He’s a genius. He married me didn’t he? Snort!

    • Gary Fultz November 21, 2011 at 5:40 pm #

      Katdish
You said he was smarter than you (in the about section I think) so that was my conclusion. When my wife tells me I am smarter than her, I first think “I wonder what she wants”, but out loud I say “I must be a genius then”. Ya I get the eye-roll.

Just happen to find your blog … watching hideous stories about sociopaths women have had the unfortunate experience of being involved with and I googled and one of them wrote something for your blog. I loved your quote about the creative spirit so started looking around your blog some more. I’m a 6th generation Texan, grandmother, going through a crisis and consideration of lifestyle change — your quote is meaningful to me. And, welcome to Texas!! And Welcome The Rain!

I personally consider this blog post , “Katdish.net | But enough about me”,
truly entertaining not to mention it was indeed a superb read.
    Thanks for your effort-Mauricio
